In Science we have been learning about electricity. This week and last week we had the opportunity to do science. We had four activities. I will talk to you about the battery powered torch.
These are the Materials we needed
Materials needed:
- 2x 9v batteries
- duck tape
- wires
- tinfoil
- light bolt
My Hypothesis: Before conducting my experiment I thought that if we put two batteries together with tape and put the light bolt on top of the batteries it would work.
What I discovered: After finishing my experiment I found out that my hypothesis was incorrect because we had to put the two batteries together and put the wires with the battery and we had to put the light on top of the wires.
My conclusion: My Hypothesis was incorrect because I had to put the wires together with the batteries and put the two batteries together. I burnt myself 3 times.
Something I found interesting during this learning was that as soon as the batteries touched together they made a spark.
I loved science because I got to learn some more things that I didn’t know. My favourite science lesson was when we got to try the solar cars and the torch. My group was the first group to make it work. Also it was awesome how electric makes the light up and it is just by a touch.
This is a similar design.

Do you like science???
Kia ora Danu,
I loved reading your blog and would love to read another but i recommend next time you add some more punctuation because i saw some lower case letters after a full stop and saw some lower case i,s and i think you should explain it better but i think that this blog is very cool. And i love science heaps!
Kia ora Danu it’s Josh
Your blog post is amazing, it has got lots of detail and explanation. All of your punctuation is awesome and you have added a picture! I love science and figuring out how lots of things work, it’s cool, fun and a good way to learn.
What is your favourite science subject?
What will your next blog post be about??
